Traditional Art Day

Sun Oct 21, 2007, 5:00 AM
Hey, this is my first journal!!

I was reading the new News article thing on Traditional Art Day and I decided that someone from my favourites needed that kind of exposure( go read the article of you have no idea what I’m talking about).

So basically out of all my favourites I've chosen BastianSchreck.

In my opinion he's a great artist.

His work is not limited to just one category as so many artist are (myself included).

With what seems like unlimited imagination, he can create magnificent art that ranges from beautiful realistic portraits, to abstract and captivating images; from animal to vegetable to mineral to what ever the hell he feels!

I wouldn’t go as far as to say that BastianSchreck's art gives you hope, but it does remind us that out with our average, everyday lives, there is always more out there; things much stranger and more interesting in life; that, no in fact, this is not as good as it gets.

So going by that note, here are 3 of what I think are his most interesting and imaginative works. (since I’m not a subscriber I can't put the images in my journal like the article said, so I'll just have to make do with links.)

- I love this piece for its detail. The use of colours to produce the shadows and curves of the fingers and palms, not just a darker shade of skin colour.

The view point is also interesting to note; its almost like he’s just looking down to draw the first thing he sees and - oh, look. His hands!!!

- This is one of his more abstract, even-the-artist-doesn't-know-what-it-is sort of paintings. I’m not sure what to say about this one. I just like it. Have a look!

- He just seems to capture the moment in this one. You can almost tell what their their speaking about from their expressions (old granny stuff no doubt). and just by using greys and blacks, you can see all the different textures on clothing etc.

And I know it's only meant to be 3 but I'll add this because it gave me a laugh.

Well I hope that’s enough.
